Rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent is expected to make his fourth consecutive start for the Chicago Bears on Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers, as Justin Fields continues to recover from the dislocated right thumb he suffered in Week 6.Fields, who returned to practice Friday, has remained limited in on-field work this week and officially was listed as doubtful for the Week 10 game at Soldier Field on Wednesday’s injury report. He has been out since Oct. 15, when he dislocated the thumb in the third quarter of a 19-13 home loss to the Minnesota Vikings.Bagent replaced him in that game and started the last three games. He has played well in spurts and propelled the Bears to a 30-12 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in his first start. But he also has turned the ball over eight times in 14 quarters, including four giveaways in last week’s 24-17 road loss to the New Orleans Saints. Dear Abby: Affair With a Married Man Earns Sister’s Disapproval

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 05:47:32 GMT

DEAR ABBY: My sister has been having an affair with a married man. When I asked if he was going to leave his wife, she said no, and it was fine with her. She claims his wife is fat and that they have a son with severe disabilities, and she (my sister) wouldn’t want the responsibility of that, even though I’m sure the boy would stay with his mother. She refers to him as her “honey,” and he buys her things. (She has always been materialistic.) She stays in contact with him constantly on her iPad and says how much he loves her.I would want to be open and have everyone get to know about my honey instead of sneaking around. When I say I don’t believe he loves her, she gets mad and accuses me of being jealous. I also told her that if I loved someone, I’d want to be with him and not communicate via email. Gifts wouldn’t make up for the person not being with me, especially if I claimed to love him.I was in a relationship with a married man once, but ...

Callahan: Bill Belichick is hurting his own fight to keep the Patriots locker room

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 05:47:32 GMT

A day before taking off for Germany, Bill Belichick admitted he doesn’t speak the native tongue. Not a word, not a phrase.Considering the state of the Patriots, maybe Belichick should start here: Nun haben wir den Salat. The literal translation goes, “Now we have the salad.” But Germans will tell you its true meaning is closer to: “We’re in deep (expletive).”That is exactly where Belichick finds himself just one month after trading for J.C. Jackson, who is not expected to travel with the team overseas for Sunday’s game against the Colts. Belichick reacquired Jackson to stabilize his secondary after early-season injuries decimated the Pats’ cornerback depth. Instead, he imploded. In must-win games the past two weeks, he allowed six catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns. One team source explained Jackson’s stateside timeout with one word, “dependability,” referring to how Jackson has long lacked in that department. The ...

NEW YORK (AP) — The physical pain of nearly dying when shrapnel from a roadside bomb in Iraq tore through his head 17 years ago was hard enough for ABC newsman Bob Woodruff.Mentally, it was even worse. That’s evident in talking to Woodruff and watching as he takes television viewers on a journey to where his life changed in an instant on Jan. 29, 2006. His first time back to Taji, Iraq, is chronicled in “After the Blast: The Will to Survive,” which airs on ABC Friday at 8 p.m. Eastern and begins streaming on Hulu a day later. At age 44, Woodruff had reached the top of a competitive TV business. He had just been named co-anchor of ABC’s “World News Tonight” and was sent to Iraq at the height of the war there to report on its progress.Riding in a patrolling Iraqi tank, he poked his upper body out to narrate a report when the improvised explosive device exploded. Shohei Ohtani, the team’s superstar two-way player, became a free agent this week. Washington knows the AL West well. Along with his time in Texa...
