Two sentenced to prison for violent robbery in Hudson HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Two Hudson residents convicted of a violent robbery in September 2022 were sentenced to prison. Cain Carothers, 23, and Eugene Cobbins, 43, were sentenced to twelve and ten years in prison, respectively. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! The two were accused of forcing a victim to hand over his wallet, credit cards, and phone on North Seventh Street. Carothers reportedly brandished a knife at the victim.Carothers and Cobbins were convicted of first and second-degree robbery, two counts of grand larceny, assault in the third degree, and petit larceny. Carothers also pleaded guilty to a previous conviction of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree. Both defendants will be required to serve five years of post-release supervision. Executive ADA Krista Kline prosecuted the case.

Man uses hammer in smash-and-grab robbery at Simi Valley Macy's: Police A man suspected of using a hammer to smash display cases and take merchandise from a Macy's in Simi Valley was captured after a short pursuit Thursday evening. A smash-and-grab robbery was reported shortly before 8 p.m. at the department store located at 1475 Simi Town Center Way. The suspect fled in what was described as a white passenger vehicle before police arrived but officers were able to locate it a short time later traveling eastbound on the 118 Freeway, the Simi Valley Police Department stated in a news release. A pursuit ensued for a short time when the driver, later identified as 44-year-old Palmdale resident Lande Butler, refused to pull over. Butler exited the freeway and continued on surface streets until abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot in a residential area. Butler was ultimately located and arrested after a perimeter was established with the help of Los Angeles Police Department air support.
